SMTP Authentication
If your email provider requires SMTP or Outgoing Mail Authentication,
then you should click on the SMTP authentication required box and
then click on the Settings button. You will be required to enter
an Account Name (usually the same as the Account Name on the main
page) and also a Password, both of which your email provider will
have sent to you.
Test
Once you have entered your details, you can run the Test program,
which will attempt to connect and initiate a send.
Every email server is different and there is a wide range of responses
and security issues concerning your account. The bottom line is
that even if you can connect to your server and appear to send an
email correctly, it still may not get to the intended recipient
for any number of reasons.
The Test program is therefore only a guide, but it will at least
tell you if trying to send emails is likely to succeed or not. |
